1h 35min. // A charming outlaw known as the Cisco Kid rides the dusty trails of the Southwest, robbing stages with a disarming grin and a code all his own. Feared by the law but adored by the public, he turns every holdup into a performance, punctuated by easy banter and the occasional song. His greatest weakness, however, is not a sheriff’s bullet but a fickle sweetheart waiting back in town, whose affections are as changeable as the desert wind.

While the Cisco Kid toys with the authorities, a determined U.S. Army sergeant is dispatched to bring him in. The sergeant thinks he’s found the perfect angle when he learns of the outlaw’s love for the flirtatious Tonia Maria, a woman who enjoys the attention of any man who happens to be nearby. What begins as a simple plan to use her as bait quickly turns into a dangerous triangle of deception, jealousy, and shifting loyalties.

As the sergeant grows more entangled with Tonia Maria, the line between duty and desire blurs. The Cisco Kid, sensing betrayal in the air, responds with his trademark mix of humor and menace, turning the chase into a psychological game played out against sweeping canyons, mission walls, and stark desert vistas. The story builds toward an ironic and morally ambiguous climax, true to its O. Henry roots, where charm and bravado can no longer shield anyone from the consequences of their choices.

Along the way, the film revels in its new sound technology: the jangle of spurs, the echo of gunshots, and the Cisco Kid’s casual serenades lend an immediacy that pulls audiences straight into the frontier. Beneath the light touches and romantic entanglements, though, lies a surprisingly sharp portrait of betrayal and survival on the borderlands, where even a singing cowboy can’t quite ride clear of fate.

2h 19min. // A wily street thief darts through the bustling bazaars of Bagdad, living by his wits and the lightness of his feet. He laughs at the pious and the powerful alike, plucking purses and trinkets with acrobatic ease, convinced that happiness lies only in the treasures he can steal. Everything changes when a daring escapade carries him over the palace walls and into the presence of the Caliph’s sheltered daughter. Struck by her beauty and grace, the carefree rogue is suddenly confronted with a desire he cannot pilfer: the love of a princess far beyond his station.

To win her hand, suitors from distant kingdoms arrive bearing riches and grand promises, each vowing to fulfill impossible tasks. Determined not to be outdone, the thief reinvents himself as a prince and joins the contest, relying on his courage, cunning, and astonishing athleticism. His quest sends him across deserts and seas into realms of pure fantasy, where magic carpets soar above the clouds, enchanted ropes climb into the sky, and sinister monsters lurk in shadowy caverns.

As he travels, the thief is forced to confront not only supernatural perils but the darker ambitions of those who would seize Bagdad for themselves. A treacherous Mongol court intrigues from within, using spies and slaves to undermine the Caliph’s rule, while the princess becomes a pawn in their designs. The rogue who once believed in nothing but his own agility must decide what kind of man he wishes to be.

Through feats of daring and a newfound sense of honor, he learns that true greatness lies not in stolen jewels but in sacrifice, loyalty, and devotion. The tale builds to a lavish, effects-laden climax as wonder upon wonder unfolds, capturing the exuberant spirit of silent-era spectacle and the timeless allure of Arabian Nights storytelling.

Directed by: Raoul Walsh

Starring: Douglas Fairbanks, Anna May Wong, Snitz Edwards, Brandon Hurst, Charles Belcher

1h 16min. // A vivacious Southern belle flits from one admirer to the next, delighting in the harmless sport of flirtation. Her father, a proud small-town doctor, expects her to settle on a respectable suitor, and he has his eye on a polished young man who fits neatly into his social ambitions. But the young woman’s heart is captured instead by a rough-hewn, sincere backwoodsman whose lack of refinement is matched only by the depth of his devotion.

As their secret romance deepens, the clash between passion and propriety grows impossible to ignore. The doctor’s stern disapproval turns to open hostility when he discovers the affair, and a line is drawn between respectable society and the man his daughter loves. Gossip, jealousy, and wounded pride swirl through the community, placing unbearable pressure on the lovers and pushing the family toward tragedy.

When an impulsive confrontation spirals out of control, the aftermath lands in a courtroom where the young woman’s character, loyalties, and very truthfulness are put on trial. Faced with brutal public scrutiny and a legal system eager for a simple villain, she must decide whether to protect her family’s honor or defend the memory of the man who awakened her heart. The story unfolds as both a melodramatic romance and a tense moral drama, steeped in Southern atmosphere and early sound-era theatricality.
